AGRICULTURAL INTERNSHIP IN NORWAY
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This program is designed for young people wishing to gain practical skills in agriculture, experience life on Norwegian farm, and know more about culture and traditions of Norway while earning money. Participants work on one of the biggest farm in Norway with an area of greenhouses on a little bit more than 30.000 m², located in Orre town on the southwest sea cost of the country. All the greenhouses are modern ones with lots of technical equipment. The farm produces tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash and flowers. The biggest crops on the open fields are chinese cabbage, cabbage, cauliflower and Kohlrabi.
Typical tasks will be vegetables picking, packing, pruning, hilling and others.
The nearest airport is in Stavanger.
CONDITIONS:
Start date: 1st (or beginning) of March.
Duration: 3 months with the possibility to prolong the contract.
Working hours: average of 180-200 hours/month. There may be about 170 hours/month in winter or 220-250 hours/month in spring-summer. 1-2 days off per week.
Examplary working day:
07.00 – 11.00 – work
11.00 – 11.45 – break
11.45 – 15.30 – work
15.30 – 16.15 – break
16.15 – 19.15 work
Remuneration: gross 73,9 NOK/hour (net 52-53 NOK/hour). Approximately 9,95 gross (7,00 net) Eur/hour.
Accommodation: During the placement participants will stay in staff subsidized housing right near the farm. They will live in twin rooms with shared facilities. The cost of the accommodation is 31 NOK/night. Bed linen and table ware are not provided. Only cookware is available.
Meal: not provided. Participants may take some vegetables produced at a farm once per week.
REQUIREMENTS:
· 20- 29 years old
· Conversational level of English
· To be a student or to have education in
agriculture – cultivation of vegetables
· To be able to cover daily living
expenses for the first few weeks
· EU citizenship
